Nature walks:
Some very pleasant walks can be undertaken directly from Caber House:
The Mondurup Reserve is just 800m away and is home to one of the richest collections of native orchids in the State, with 41 species identified.
You can walk through the reserve to the Mt Barker townsite.
The Mt Barker Lookout is a 5km return walk combining panoramic views over our beautiful countryside with wildflowers and native animals & birds.
Further afield you will find some more challenging walks:
The Porongurup Range, 25km east of Mt Barker, is a fascinating place for picnicking and bush rambles. It is a place of incredible biodiversity with 750 native plant species in an area of just 2600 hectares.
Travel 30km on from the Porongurups and you will experience the majesty of the Stirling Range National Park. The park encloses the only major mountain range within the southern half of Western Australia.
